Timeline Test extra assignment

Your extra assignment was given on the handout in class. This comment space is for your answer to part 2. Give an explanation for ONE of the 7 numbered items in section A. Read the comments posted in front of you (unless you are the first to post). You may NOT use the same item until all 7 have been posted. That means is you are the 7th person to post, you must respond to the last available question. (So, for example, if the first six comments are about questions: 1,3,6,5,2,7, you must answer #4 “An oyster fossil in Texas.”)
Everyone answers question B. This site may help you increase your understanding.

  1. #1 class lol

  2. [A-3] The shark tooth fossil on a mountaintop

Millions of years ago the whole vally was under water + mountains and prehistoric sharks romed the oceans and died and left behined fragments of fossils

[B] Invertebrates fossils are found in the deepest layers of the Earth. Mammals fossils are found in the layers closest to th surface. what dose this tell scientists about evolution

that in the time line invertebrate formed before mammal and tha maybe mammels are cusens of invertebrate

  3. That’s nice. Do you have an answer to the question?

  4. Oh… Amazing how that came up right when I made that last post. I guess you really are #1. But what do you mean by “cusens of invertebrate”? Does this mean you’re related to a lobster?

  5. [A-5] An evergreen log fossil in the dessert.

Millions of years ago, during the paleozoic era, water covered the earth leaving the the land to become a evergreen full of huge green trees and other plants

[B] When the earth was covered with water filled with all sorts of invertebrate they would be at the lowest and oldest layers of rock from the earth with they later evolve into mammals.Which made these land creatures fossilized under the closest layers of the earth since they were all ready on the land.Scientist can say that the more that the living things on the earth evolve the closer they get to the earths surface layer.

  6. [A-1]A fossil of an animal very similar to a horse, but the size of a dog.

The Eohippus known as the dawn horse. Some of the species were no larger than a terrier . They had slender limbs with only four toes in the forefoot.

[B]It tells scientists the time that things happen

  7. [A-7] A reptile with bones that look like those in a birds wings?
Theoretically this reptile existed during the Jurassic Era when dinosaurs ruled the earth the bird was the size of a bantam rooster and had a long tail like its reptile ancestor. It also had a beak with teeth.

[B] The fact that invertebrate fossils are found in the deepest layers of the Earth, and mammal fossils are found in the layers closet to the surface proves that evolutions is in fact due to location. We are mammals and we are on the surface of the Earth. It is obvious that the animals closest to us would be geographically closer.

  8. An oyster fossil in texas?

    A. Its hard to think that an oyster fossil can be found in texas. but scientists and researchers have said that the earth to a certain extint was underwater but that the plate tectonics pushed land up forming mountains. So its not that hard to believe that an oysters fossil was found in texas because the earth has changed.
    B. It tells us that things have evolved and that now we obvioisly have mammals and that in each layer of the earth a new thing had evolved.

  9. [A-2]A palm tree fossil in Wyomming
long ago the earth found a palm tree fossil and they found out the fossil got put there by animals breking it down and pieces would break off and get pressed into our earth.

[B]it tells us that mammals from everywhere usually die close to surfaces and land fossils are more hidden in the deep layers of the earth.maybe they have been there longer.

  10. A3. A FOSSIL OF A SHARKTOOTH FOUND ON A MUONTAINTOP MEANS THAT THE MOUNTAINTOPS WERE ONCE COVERED UP WITH WATER AND SHARKS LIVED THERE AND AS THE EARTH CHANGED, THE REMAINS OF A SHARKS TOOTH TURNED INTO A FOSSIL.

B.IT TELLS THE SCIENTISTS THAT MAMMALS AND MANY OTHER THINGS EVOLVE AND IT ALSO SHOWS WICH ONES ARE OLDER BY WICH FOSSILS ARE DEEPER IN THE EARTH

  11. An evergreen fossil in the desert
    A. This tells us that there must have been a forest where the desert is now. It tells us that the earth long ago had different enviorment and the land was different.
    B. It tells scientist that invertavries came first. Therefore mammals must have evlolved from them.

  12. [A-1] A fossil of an animal very similar to a horse, but the size of a dog.
[Eolippus] The modern horse has little resemblance to its ancient ancestors. This small ancestor was only about the size of an adult fox. When the first bones of these animals were found, they were believed to be the bones of primates

  13. A-1
An Evergreen log fossil in a desert?

-An evergreen log fossil in a desert would
tells us that that many years ago there must
have been a forest where now lies a desert.
It could of been during the Mesoic Era.

  14. [b]it shows what species were first and that other species came after them

  15. Fire pits from 1,000,000,000 years ago

A.This tells us that Cave Man used to live during these times, and they made these fire pits. They used them to cook there food or to warm up in the cold. This is why fire pits were there from 1,000,000,000 YA.

B.It tells us that the invertbrates came first. Then that mammals came later in time. This states that we must have evolved from them.

  16. Part B.

If the mammals were near the top
of layers it means that they were
newer then the ones at bottom.

  17. A.3 A shark tooth fossil on a mountaintop tells us there was shark remains and as the water level increased it drifted the shark remains :)

PART B. tells us that inverterbrates obviously came befor mammals there for they are deeper burried into the earth.

  18. A.4 An oyster fossil in Texas

The earth was under water billions of years ago

    B. invertebrate fossils are found in the deepest layers of the earth. mammal fossils are found in the layers closest to the surace. what does this tell scientists about evolution?

I advocate that inverterbrates comes from the mammals which they are now spreaded through our entire continent

  19. Period 7

Lame Class dats right dis is myspace

  20. [A-6] Fire pits from 1,000,000 years ago.
A.This show that people have been living for more than 1,000,000 years a go and even further back.

B.Invertebrates lived earlier before any other living mammal.Thats why they are found deeper in the layers of earth.

  21. [A-6] Fire pits from 1,000,000 years ago.
A.This show that people have been living for more than 1,000,000 years a go and even further back.

B.Invertebrates lived earlier before any other living mammal.Thats why they are found deeper in the layers of earth.

  22. [A-6] Fire pits from 1,000,000 years ago.
A.This show that people have been living for more than 1,000,000 years a go and even further back.

B.Invertebrates lived earlier before any other living mammal.Thats why they are found deeper in the layers of earth.

  23. Yes, that’s right. Yes, that’s right. Yes, that’s right.

  24. An Evergreen log fossil in a desert?
that can tell us that there was evergreen trees in what is now a desert.
part B. invertebrates lived before any mammal.

  25. (A-7)
This was a bird that was maybe ten times larger than most birds today… It had a thick beak with teeth and it also had a long tail similar to its reptile ancestors. This bird/reptile existed during the Mesozoic Era.

    (PART-B)
This is called relative dating and it basically helps scientists/people know how old fossils are and what era they existed during… The youngest fossils would be found on top and the oldest on the bottom layers.

  26. Oh and Trent, you’re right 7th period is lame, it’s all about 2nd period! Anyways, you’re supposed to write the extra credit on here, not rude comments! haha just kiddiing… sorry Mr.Cloer :)

  27. [A-3]
A shark tooth fossil on a mountian top.
A shark tooth fossil could be found on a mountian top because that mountian wasn’t always a montian it could have been a valley or an ocean, which it was in this case it was.

  28. [A-3]
If a shark tooth fossil is found on a mountaintop; then that means that the water level was very very high during a certain point on Earth. And the remains of the shark is left on the mountaintop.

    [B]
Invertebrate fossils are found deeper in the Earth because they came before any mammals. Mammals appeared later in time and that is why they are found near the top of the surface.

  29. sixth period pretty much owns!!! :)
    dont hate we represent

  30. Part B(forgot)
this tells scientisrt that mammals are the dominant species in this time period

  31. [A-1] A fossil of an animal very similar to a horse, but the size of a dog.[Eolippus] The original horse has little resemblance to its ancient ancestors. the small ancstor was only about the size of an adult fox.when these bones were actually found they belived that they were bones for primates.

  32. An oyster fossil in texas:

Well, I think this probably tells us that texas used to contain lots of water…because oysters come from the sea.
